Remembering our dear friend

Tracyann became a member of Lets Make Jam in our first year, she called us excited that a new group had opened up in her little town. We later found out it was a not so secret ambition to be part of the Women’s Institute, she loved the WI and she was utterly thrilled when she became part of our enthusiastic and slightly bonkers team.

Tracyann fitted in perfectly, full of ideas, eager to try new things and always up for a challenge.  From the very beginning she was part of our committee and as many members are she was dragged into working for free helping to fund raise and organising bake sales.

She was a kind and generous person with a bit of a ‘giggle’ and got involved in every area of our Let’s Make Jam activities, she joined us in making decorations for the county show, helped run master-classes and workshops and volunteered for everything, she also volunteered her other half Roger and her daughter Molly to both attend and help with events, the three of them came as a package.

Tracyann was passionate about crafts and her talents won out for many judges on her sewing skills and she was mad on needle felting aiming to get us all hooked, or stabbed in the finger as many of us learned.

At our 80’s night she did her best Madonna impression and for our jubilee celebrations she made us all laugh with the most amazing outfit, her sexy Hilda Ogden.

Tracyann wasn’t just a member of our team she became a great friend to many of us, we socialised with her, knew her as a wonderful mum and recognised her as a supportive and lovely person.

As a group we benefited from her involvement and kindness and in her passing we want to keep her memory and enthusiasm alive.

From March 2014 there will be a craft competition in her name , the Nightingale cup.  Each year in march the month of her birthday, we will celebrate her life with something we believe she would like , a chance to make pretty crafts and a chance to win a trophy.

We were all lucky to have had her in our lives and we will remember her with a smile, a cup of coffee , a slice of cake and every time we attempt to crochet, felt or sew.

Tracyann Nightingale you will always be in the hearts of the jam girls.
