It’s fair to say that the Women’s Institute is known for amazing cakes and today we did that name proud. As a young group (only 18 months running) we pulled together in the most tremendous way, baking our little hearts out. Everyone that could, baked the most amazing array of cakes and helped at our stall held in Asda, Tunstall. People literally flocked to the cake stall and we smiled with pride when we caused somewhat of a ‘jam’ in the entrance hall.
We were getting deliveries of new delicious baked goodies every half an hour and the stall was constantly stocked up with what looked like a mini pop up bakery from 11-3. To name a few there was, banana loaf, gingerbread men, rocky road, maltesers tray bake, lemon drizzle cake, Mayan chocolate cookies, tea bread, millionaires shortbread and cupcakes in salted caramel, mocha, vanilla ice-cream, ginger-toffee and Oreo cookies.
All the girls pulled together, serving, tasting and selling as much as humanly possible and of course tempting the odd ‘dieter’ or two through the door.
Our raffle of a giant cupcake was so popular and the winner was utterly thrilled when it was delivered to her door this evening.
We are a fab team and today proved it, for every member that made today successful give yourself a pat on the back. We also raised a lot of money, the grand total will be revealed at the May AGM.
