Going, Going Gong!

Good morning Ladies, I hope you are well and all looking forward to tonights AGM?

Oh My Days! The Annual General Meeting! It seems to come around so quickly. And doesn’t it just sound so boring?

BORING! well if that’s what you think, then clearly you have never been to a JAM AGM before. But more about that later.

Firstly let’s talk about last month’s ‘Gong Bath’ and Meditation Session with Julie and Sean from The Reiki Room, Yoga and Holistic Centre.

Ladies were invited to bring yoga mats, blankets and comfy cushions if they wanted to take part by lyling down, but for those of us who find it a little harder to get off the floor, we were invited to take part in our seats.

Sean took us step by step through the meditation before introducing us to power of sound, and how the different vibrations can help aline our energys, while Julie helped with some of the more gentler sounds, walking in between our ladies. Some of our ladies were so impressed there is talk of setting up another session. This time, I think, it’s going to be outdoors and in nature, so watch this space or check out the Let’s Make Jam Private Page on Facebook for more information on that.

For more information on, who has affectionately become known as ‘The Big Gong Guy’ (stop making up your own jokes please- I’m sure hs heard them all before) you can find Sean and Julie on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/angelspathwayreikireflexologytarot or search The Reiki Room. Here you can see a list of the scheduled events they offer.

As usual, this has been another very busy month.

Be prepared to be SPAMMED with photos. Lots of them!

As well as The Bi… I mean Sean and Julie, we had Hookers version2 at Brindley Farm. This is where the world is put to rights – sometimes over Yarn – sometimes over Gin!

We had St George’s Day and National Penguin Day.

And Jamanory, also at Brindley Farm, where we talked about ‘That Green Eyed Girl’ by Julie Owen Moylan and Ann Cleeves White Nights.

The following Thursday we decamped and took The Jamanory Book Hub on the road to Biddulph Library, where we spent a wonderful evening the company of best selling author Erica James, who came to talk to us about her most recent release ‘A Secret Garden Affair’.

We were given a fabulously warm welcome at the liberary with tea, coffee and biscuits, and there was quite a buzz of excited chat as we all got comfertable and settled down.

Erica explained she was a Staffordsire local and felt it was only fitting to return to ‘This Neck of the Woods’ to celebrate the release of her bench mark 25th titel.

Looking relaxed and elegant Erica went on to talk about both her motivations for getting started as an author, and for the book. A keen gardener herself, Erica explained how she was inspired to develop one of her main characters through both research and personal experiences. She talked about the writing conditions she prefers, writing 3-5 chapters a week, and how she never ‘plans out’ a novel, rather she lets the characters develop organically and waits to see where they are going to take her.

It wasn’t long before we were all chatting and Erica was happy to answer any questions as she went a long, before ending the evening with a book signing. And yes, even though I had already read the book (well listened on Audible) I did buy a copy and Erica very kindly personalise it for me (#fangirl)

To kick start May we had the OG Hookers meet up at Westbury Tavern, The actual coronation on the Saturday, followed by a glorious Picnic in the Park, don’t get exited – our park, not THE park.

We celebrated by holding a best crown parade, sanwiches and cakes, a game of Royal Bingo, a Pop Quiz on HRH himself and we even had a few special guests turn up, unfortunately though, as with a lot of families, ‘Beef’ will out. Tut tut!

And as if all that wasn’t enough, we still have tonight’s AGM meeting, when we will be discussing the big issuse of the day like:-

Who’s made the best truffles for the Nightingale Star Trophy and who get’s to look after it this year?

And

Who’s brought the best stuff for the craft swap and who’s going to win the … Quiz?

And raffle, and cake, and of cours, it goes without saying, good company too.

Then we have Saturday’s Eurovision, Hookers -The Rerun (Brindley Farm on the 17th), World Bee Day!!! Yes I said BEE DAY on the 20th, international TEA Day on the 21st….

Tea… where’s the cake!
Last years winner Liz

Mr Bee, just doing his thing

…the 3rd Bank Hoilday this month, and then to top it all off, we have come full circle to Jamanory on the 30th. This month we will be talking about ‘Behind the Scenes at the Museum’ by Kate Atkinson.

It’s also not too late if you haven’t managed to get around to sorting out your subs yet. Please see details below

So, tonight then, are you coming?

You know the drill by now, same place St. John’s the Evangelist’s Church, Loomer Road, Chesterton, ST5 7JS. You know the time, 7.15 for 7.30 start.

P.S. How cute are this pair?

All that leaves me to say just one last thing…

…until tonight,

Stay Jammy!
