A November to Remember

Well I know I say this at the start of every Jam Blog, but what an absolute treat Novembers meeting was! We had another Amazing evening in the presence and under the guidance of our talented art director Mrs White or AKA Gemma, AKA that Brummy Bird (to anyone who doesn’t know better… like my mum).

This month we learned about the art of Modern Calligraphy and were presented with our very own beautiful Practice Booklets and Pen to use on the night and to take home so we could hone our skills further.

What is Modern Calligraphy I hear you ask. ‘Modern’ Calligraphy is any calligraphy that is not ‘Traditional’ calligraphy. I know right? That tells you everything you need to know I’m sure!

And WOWZERS what a master class to be had. Not only did we get our books and pen to keep, with often one to one tuition AND enough cake to sink a blue wale, but Gemma had also produce a video tutorial so we could all take things in our stride and learn at a pace that was comfortable for everyone.

It was a well received activity that everyone I spoke to really enjoyed it so thank you Gemma.

Julie had a chance to show off her amazing Julie Wells Cup (or ‘Prize for the Most Entries’, entered at the county show Cup – to give it its real title) and Mrs A picked up hers , the Solway Cup, for super talented efforts in Marmalade making. Well done again Mrs A and everyone, We are Special Talented Bunch of Ladies.

In November we had a mini Jam Excursion to the Birmingham Christmas Markets which was huge fun. We did lots of shopping, eating (of course, goes without saying obvs!) and dare I say it a little bit of drinking too.photocollage-31150027205438824437.jpg

Mo & I set off early and met up with Mrs A and Vanessa – Queen of the Kitchen, later that afternoon. Ok, so there was a little bit of confusion as to where we were to meet up as Mo & me were on completely the WRONG side of where we needed to be at the train station. We also managed to drag poor Sharon out of the shower on a group chat ( Sorry Shaz) but we found each other eventually  – and that was before ANY drinking had even commenced!

Tonight’s The Night Ladies

And the best till last, TONIGHT IS JAM NIGHT PEOPLE and we are just so super excited about it. So get your glad rags on and get yourself along to Our Christmas Party.

So if you can remember to bring a small chocolate type gift/s with you, to help share the love this Christmas, then I’m sure it will be really appreciated. Historically Jammer’s generosity has been simply Amazing and we are thankful for any contribution big or small.
Now DON’T FORGET, as part of our way of saying thank you, To You, 👏👏👏👏We will be feeding you tonight so you don’t really need any tea/dinner.
Now unfortunately, Vanessa – Queen of the Kitchen – is unable to attend court this evening so we will be looking for extra hands this evening  – so if it all gets a bit too rowdy for you, you can always take a breather in the kitchen and lend a hand.
Meeting starts as usual at 7.30 (no arrivals before 7.15pm or you may spoil any surprises and be given a job) at Saint Wulstan’s Community Centre, Church Lane, Wolstanton, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, ST5 0EH.

AOB

Change of name but still the same game – Here at Lets Make Jam we support the ‘Period Power’ Campaign, and the great work they do with young women who are homeless, families who are on a very low income and young ladies at school who just can’t afford to buy sanitary products themselves. However, moving forward, we will be refer to it as the Hygiene Bank. While extremely import, this allows a little room for maneuver on the sort of items we can donate rather than concentrating purely on sanitary wear. I’m sure you will agree that most hygiene products are just as important.
County Show Coverage, For the full list or if you have any questions see either Facebook (where we have a dedicated page for details) or you can request an audience with our very own County Show Countess Von Wells, or aka Julie x
