Red lipstick, Make do & Mend & The Chip Saga.

Another Jam year is over! Christmas is around the corner and soon our ears will be bleeding from the gentle (cough) nagging of Julie Wells demanding we double last years entries for the county show.
Before that happens however we needed to celebrate the joys of the festive season which for us involved tea and chips.
Our speaker was the delightful Miss Pitchy Patchy, who arrived immaculately dressed circa 1945 with red lippy and stockings in tow and a festive fur draped over her shoulders. She spoke of all things festive in the Era of World War Two when life was limited and often very difficult for women trying to scrape together fabric, food and other items we are all lucky enough to take for granted. From the unpicking of jumpers to re knit, to the saving of string and ironing of wrapping paper, the make do and mend era was day to day life and not the somewhat ‘fashionable’ idea it is today.
Courtesy of Miss Pitchy Patchy Let’s Make Jam had the worlds most polite and sedate game of pass the parcel with our delighted winner being the proud new owner of some pretty bunting.
The raffle went down well with five fab prizes including free bowling, a mini sewing machine, some home scents and a set of kitchen gadgets. Congrats to the lucky winners!
Our Fab crafter Dawn very kindly judged the decorative bauble competition and our talented winners were Sue and Sheena. We had some funny entries and some members had obviously enjoyed bringing some humour to the comp.
When the Chips finally arrived it was chaos, well as chaotic as us Jam gals get, which is a giggle, laugh and a weeny demand for some gravy to bath our chip butties in.
Plus we ran over time, there’s a surprise!
Other updates from tonight will be in further blog posts so why not subscribe to blog so you don’t miss out!

Until next year have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year x
