1: 1 Draw after a gruelling battle.

Monday 25th November 2013, a day to be recorded in sporting history. After many seconds of training 5 highly toned athletes stepped up to the oche, sharing just one set of darts and literally no understanding of the rules.   Against all odds, & battling the mighty ‘Rudyard  snipers’, powered by pride, tea & the determination to hit the board we celebrated like it was the World championship upon achieving our triumphant draw!

Our leg of the tournament began with trepidation, will our darts hit their mark, or will they fall like a badly made sponge? Three singles matches were played by Jenny ‘Two flight’ Taylor, Johanna ‘Cobra’ Gordon & Rebecca ‘Badger’ Brown – each starting well but lacking the pin point precision of the 6 dart finish. The doubles teams Double J’s (Jenny & Julie) and Twin Arrows (Lisa & Beki) fared no better. A clean sweep by the talented Rudyard  ladies. Defeated on home soil.

Spurred on by this crushing defeat (& a quick sausage roll) we dug deep and found the power of ‘The Jam’ for our away leg (also in the Jam Room at the Leopard). Guided by faith, and with a little ghostly assistance our darts flew straight and true. Our good fortune brought us giddiness laughter and sense of disbelief! Luckily the very kind Rudyard ladies were keeping score and assured us that we actually did win!!

Huge congratulations to Jenny ‘Two Flight’ Taylor for hitting the biggest score of the night. A massive thanks to the wonderful Rudyard WI for their patients, mathematical assistance & sense of humour.

Bring on Wednesday 27th, leg 2 away match @ Brownedge.
